Introducing AI-Guided Life Sciences Intelligence in Biotechgate

Biotechgate is introducing new AI-guided workflows to help life sciences teams search structured BD&L data more intuitively and retrieve source-based insights from curated analyst reports and forecast models. The new features combine AI Guided Search for structured company, asset, deal, trial and contact data with an AI Assistant for research and forecasts, helping users move faster from complex business questions to relevant results and insights.

For more than 20 years, Biotechgate has provided curated life sciences intelligence for business development, licensing, partnering, investment and market research. The platform brings together structured information on companies, assets, clinical trials, deals, management contacts, financing activity and partnering interests, as well as curated research content such as analyst reports and forecast models.

With these new AI features, Biotechgate adds a more intuitive way to work with both types of information. Users can ask natural-language business questions to search Biotechgate data or query research content to retrieve relevant, source-based answers.

The goal is not to replace expert review or structured data with a generic AI chatbot. Instead, Biotechgate uses different AI-supported approaches for different information needs: precise AI-guided search for structured data, and source-based AI assistance for analyst reports and forecast models.

Why AI matters for life sciences intelligence

Business development and corporate development teams often work with two very different types of information.

On one hand, they need structured data: companies, licensing assets, deal activity, clinical trials, contacts and partnering interests. This type of information is best handled through precise searches and filter-based result sets.

The AI interprets the question, identifies the relevant search criteria and translates the request into structured database filters. Instead of returning only a generated text answer, it a precise set of matching companies, assets, deals, trials or contacts from Biotechgate’s structured data. Users can then refine their search with follow-up questions, review related data, identify management contacts and export result sets to Excel.

This workflow is especially useful for tasks such as identifying licensing opportunities, finding potential partners, reviewing companies with specific business interests, searching assets by development phase, indication or licensing status, exploring related license agreements, and creating outreach or research lists. The goal is to make structured search faster and easier; while still keeping results grounded in Biotechgate’s human-curated data.

Research & Forecasts – AI Assistant

Research & Forecasts – AI Assistant is designed for a different type of question. Instead of searching structured database fields, this assistant helps users ask questions across curated analyst reports and forecast models. It uses a source-based AI approach: the system searches for relevant content in the available research material and uses it to generate an answer.

This is useful for questions such as:

“What are the main valuation assumptions in forecast models?”

“What does the research say about the market opportunity for obesity treatments?”

“Which factors could affect the development or commercial potential of an ADC oncology product?”

The assistant helps users find relevant insights without manually reviewing large numbers of reports or models one-by-one. Answers are based on the underlying research content, helping users move more quickly from question to evidence-based insight.

Two AI workflows, one intelligence platform

The two new AI workflows serve different purposes.

BD&L Intelligence – AI Guided Search is best suited for structured searches across companies, assets, deals, trials and contacts. It helps users create precise result sets that can be reviewed, refined and exported.

Research & Forecasts – AI Assistant is best suited for asking questions across curated reports and forecast models. It helps users retrieve relevant insights and source-based answers from research content.

Together, these workflows help life sciences teams move faster from  business questions to actionable intelligence.

Supporting real business workflows

The new AI features are designed to support practical use cases in life sciences business development, licensing, investment and due diligence. For example, users can identify companies with specific partnering interests, review related licensing agreements, find management contacts and export a result list for follow-up. They can also use Research & Forecasts – AI Assistant to review analyst views, risks, valuation drivers or market assumptions related to a company, asset or therapeutic area.

This combination of structured data and research intelligence helps users connect search, analysis and decision support in one platform.

Available through the Biotechgate beta portal

The new AI features will be available through the Biotechgate beta portal for users with the corresponding active subscriptions.

Biotechgate will continue to improve the AI workflows based on customer feedback. In BD&L Intelligence – AI Guided Search, users can provide direct feedback using the thumbs-up / thumbs-down function after each AI interaction. This helps identify which queries work well, where search interpretation can be improved and which use cases should be prioritized next.
