Institution of Marriage Made Holier by These 51 Underprivileged and Specially-abled Couples

Humanity does exist and this reassurance came in the form of a beautiful mass wedding organised by Udaipur-based NGO Narayan Seva Sansthan. A dream come true for 51 underprivileged and specially-abled pairs to become life partners and enjoy the much needed companionship of an understanding and loving partner.

A first-of-its-kind mass marriage in Mumbai, among this 51 couples, both the partners are physically disabled in 22 couples. And one partner is physically disabled in 7 couples and 22 couples are from underprivileged circumstances.

To join the couples in Holy matrimony, many religious saints were a part of the wedding and blessed the newly wedded couples. Complete in-depth wedding procedure starting from Mehandi to Bindola, Panigrahan to Vidai took place amidst a gathering of many distinguished invitees who blessed and supported the extended family of Narayan Seva Sansthan.

Narayan Seva Sansthan organizes Viklang Vivah twice a year. Till date, more than 1100 such couples are married by the NGO and are leading a happy married life along with their children. Many among these are those couples who underwent surgery for their polio affected limb at the organization itself. They acquired self dependency through various training programmes of the organization and are now employed or self employed.

Prior to the wedding day, that is on Saturday 28th May 2016, a felicitation function for the contributors of the organization and social workers was organized. Tricycles, wheel chairs, artificial limbs, crutches, calipers, hearing equipments, braille sticks, sewing machines and vegetable filled hand lorries were also distributed on this occasion by Narayan Seva Sansthan - all free of cost to the less privileged people.

Narayan Seva Sansthan was started by Padmashree Dr. Kailash "Manav" Agarwal in Udaipur in the year 1985. They take care of people suffering from Polio, Cerebral Palsy and also serve orthopedically handicapped and disabled. Narayan Seva Santhan presently runs a 1100-bed International polio hospital in Udaipur for treatment of disabled, all paid for by the NGO. This treatment includes taking care of them - medical, education, training them in vocation of their choice so that they become independent and self reliant and marrying them to the partner of their choice. They also counsel them during annual meetings to see that they are living a healthy and happy life.

The NGO is a registered charity in UK, US and South Africa with branches in more than 26 countries and ashrams in 41 cities in India.

The services rendered by the sansthan for the cause of suffering humanity during the last 25 years have not gone unnoticed. Dr. Kailash Manav, Managing Trustee and Founder was awarded the most prestigious Padam Shree Award in Social Service, Personal Category Award at National level for Excellent Services in the field of Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, National award, Golden award (for excellent work in social field ), Communal Harmony Award among others.

Narayan Seva Sansthan, was recognised as Best Organization by Governor of Rajasthan, Mr. Baliram Bhagat and was given 'Quality Mark Awards' from Ministry of Industry, Government of Rajasthan. And also awarded 'India's No.1 Charitable Trust' at 'India's No.1 Brand Award (2014)' organized by "The No.1 Brand Awards Council (USA) and IBC Infomedia.
