LOS ANGELES, Dec.11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery's Resilience Teen Mental Health Treatment Center, a new mental health facility designed expressly for treating adolescents (11 to 17 years old), has opened in Fresno to service the half-million residents of the central San Joaquin Valley in central California.

The 4,937 Sq.Ft. Facility Is The Only One of its Kind in the Central San Joaquin Valley

• The 4937-sq.-ft facility, located at 214 West Bluff Avenue in Fresno, is the only one of its kind in the greater metropolitan area, offering evidence-based specialties in the treatment of mood (depression, bipolar disorder) and anxiety disorders, self-harm/self-injury, suicidality, adoption and attachment issues. 
• The facility holds the highest accreditation from the Joint Commission which is the same level of accreditation and certification as hospitals and considered the gold standard; however, inpatient treatment occurs in a comfortable estate-style home instead of an institutional setting.

The new center opens at a time when teen suicide is soaring and access to specialized care is limited. The suicide rate for children and teens between 10 and 17 was up 70% between 2006 and 2016, according to the latest data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
