ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Oct. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Uma Eyyunni, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Healthcare. Dr. Eyyunni is the Founder of Mother's Cry, Inc.

After relocating to Florida from a successful sixteen year career in her private medical practice in Otolaryngology, along with her husband Dr. Ramanujam Eyyunni, a General Surgeon, and their children Sreekar and Swathi Eyyunni, from Martinsburg, West Virginia, Dr. Eyyunni now works part time at the Good Samaritan clinic in St. Augustine. Dr. Eyyunni has devoted her time and knowledge to help spread awareness to individuals suffering from mental and developmental challenges. In this capacity, her areas of concentration include healthcare management, medical education, mental health, and public health.

Currently, Dr. Eyyunni counsels and provides information, resources and emotional support to patients and their families affected by depression and other mental health issues through Mothers Cry, Inc., a nonprofit organization, which she founded along with her husband Ram and Dr. Ravi Kancha, M.D, Ph.D. 

She has published books on mental health and the challenges that the families face. In addition to those novels, Dr. Eyyunni is an avid fan of poetry. She has had poetry published in multiple languages, and has also written lyrics for several dance ballets in the Indian languages of Telugu, Sanskrit and Hindi, besides English.

A member of the Indo-American Medical Association, Patron member of American Association of Physicians from India, (AAPI) National Alliance on Mental Illness, (NAMI) Health Consortium of St. John's County and the National Association of Professional Women, Dr. Eyyunni was recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of The Year. She was also awarded the Pillar of Community award by the Indo US chamber of Commerce in Jacksonville, FL.

Furthermore, she maintains affiliation with the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, and enjoys reading, music, writing poetry and volunteer work in her spare time. Currently, she is in the process of producing a short, animated "Mother's Journal" about the awareness of Autism in the community, especially new mothers. This is a practical and simple reminder for families to look for early signs and seek treatment.

Dr. Eyyunni earned her Medical degree, and she holds a Master's degree in Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery from Osmania Medical in Hyderabad, India. In the United States, she did her residency at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
